Darryn George is of Ngapuhi descent and lives and works in Christchurch. He graduated from Canterbury University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and completed a Master of Fine Arts at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1998.
He designs templates for his hard edged geometric works on computer and later selects those he will paint. His paintings are oil based or acrylic on canvas or in some cases painted directly onto walls. He has a unique style that joins together modern abstraction with traditional Maori motifs and designs.
Darryn George has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and Australia and his work is represented in many collections.
