Fiona Connor was born in Auckland in 1981. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland and a Masters of Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts. She is now based in Los Angeles.
Her art practice is a combination of sculpture, architecture and installation. She painstakingly crafts and reconstructs replicas of overlooked everyday objects and structures and re-presents the objects as works of art. For example she recreated a series of community notice boards effectively freezing the notices and the moment in time. She describes her artwork as “a record of a thing in the world.”
She has exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand, USA and Europe. Her work is represented in many private and public collections including Auckland Art Gallery.
