Mat Collishaw was born in 1966 and lives and works in London. He is a key figure in the important generation of British artists who emerged from Goldsmith’s College in the late 1980s.
In his practice he works across photography, video, sound, and sculpture. He combines new and traditional media and images to build layered narratives. He takes on subjects like death row inmates’ last meals, the blood-spattered survivors of a terrible disaster, and exquisite close-ups of squashed butterflies.
His works are held in many major international collections including San Francisco MOMA, Centre Pompidou, Tate and many others.
