Simon Denny is a contemporary artist based in Berlin. He was born in Auckland in 1982 and studied at Elam at Auckland University from 2001 – 2005 and at Stadelschule in Frankfurt, Germany.
He is known for his research based art projects that explore aspects of tech business culture, corporate culture and the stories that surround it including the internet’s effect on society. His subject matter includes the technology underpinning the digital currency bitcoin, the redesign of the New Zealand passport and the internet entrepreneur, Kim Dotcom. He looks at complex issues and views and helps translate this to his viewers.
He was chosen to be the artist to represent New Zealand at the 2015 Venice Biennale.
