Now that we’re at the beginning of February there are some great new art exhibition openings starting in Auckland.
We really enjoyed seeing works by the internationally renowned and Turner prize winning artist from the UK, Martin Creed whose work features in our art leasing collection.
Michael Lett Gallery in Auckland is showing a new selection of Martin Creed artworks in a show called “Like Favourite Socks In A Drawer”. It features seven small works some on paper and some on canvas all of which resemble a pyramid form made up of individual brushstrokes. We think these works are stunning with beautiful colour combinations and this is a must see show by an incredible international artist.
Martin Creed is a contemporary artist and he creates artworks that are often purposefully challenging to his audience. Martin Creed creates works that make people reconsider their understanding of art. For example “Half the Air in a Given Space” consisting of a room of balloons containing half the air of the room that visitors can walk through.” Creed has said “I think that the best things get under people’s skin, make them remember them.”
You can also look at examples of Martin Creed’s work on Lemonbone’s art leasing website.
